What is the best David Lynch film to watch for someone who has never seen one of his films?

I have heard quite a lot about the film director David Lynch but I have never seen a film by him. I would like to know which of his films would be a good introduction to him and his movies and please bear in mind that I know nothing about his films so info about your choice and why it is the best film for a DL noob would be ideal.
