Is an organic product pure based on presence or absence of a precipitate?

And what would it mean if the measure melting point turned out to be 15 degrees lower than the literature value of the identified product? For example, Ferrocene has a standard melting point of 174-176 degrees Celsius, but our product measured 160 degrees--Would this also indicate impurity?
